Sportsbet

ABOUT

A leading sportsbook operator and online casino brand dedicated to creating the best in service, product and experience for their customers. Sportsbet (.io) offers the option of using crypto-currency to place bets and play in their casino.

Our team was tasked with building their flagship Esportsbook. (Esports Sportsbook) which too would allow their users to place bets using their crypto-wallets securely.

SOLUTION

A Redesign of the existing MVP to fit better with audience's expectations when using an Esports betting book.

Design a mobile ready format of the MVP for users who watch Esports matches on the go.

Design a system that tied the existing Sportbet identity to the Esports sportsbook, whilst giving bets.io it's own unique feel.

Affinity Diagram

To address the issue of politics, which affected our progress significantly, I got the team to submit their thoughts to an affinity diagram. This would help me see visually, where individually we felt our issues are.

Workshop_1

Kano Model

Kano, set the record straight, this is where our priorities need to be in order to make progress and build an MVP that can become a valued asset to the sportsbet family.

User Journey

Using the underground mapping system, we plugged away points of entry, the expected journey path of the user should they enter the site, and the pages which they could journey to from their 'stops.'

Workshop_2

Wireframe

Our primary customer targets were desktop users. Someone who would place a bet between playing a match themselves, or an office worker watching the major from their desk.

The original starting point was a desktop website, which we would then later redevelop for Mobile.

Feedback

The 'A' Concept

(The Original)

  1. Most said it felt unengaging.
  2. Most described the website as a blog.
  3. Most said the navigation confused them.
  4. All said it did not get them 'hyped up' for the major.a

The 'B' Concept

(The Update+Mobile Interaction)

  1. Most said it felt more engaging.
  2. Most described the website as a sportsbook.
  3. Most said the navigation could be improved.
  4. All said it did not get them 'hyped up' for the major.

Revision

The final version of the design I created featured a different approach to displaying the betting markets per esports title.

This worked better for scaling from Mobile to Web than the previous prototype-B and so was set for consideration.

There was better consistency between both versions of the design too.
